About Norditropin®
Norditropin® (somatropin) may help support the body’s growth process
Norditropin® contains a man-made form of growth hormone that is identical to the growth hormone that your body makes and performs the same functions in supporting the body’s growth.
Actor portrayal
Growth hormone (GH) is a naturally occurring protein that plays a key role in the body’s growth and metabolic processes.
Hormones are like messengers. They can travel through the blood to tell different parts of the body to perform certain tasks.
Growth hormone tells the cells in a child’s body to grow and divide.
Actor portrayal
Growth hormone starts in the pituitary gland
Growth hormone is made by the pituitary gland, which is a pea-sized gland at the base of the brain. From there, GH travels to other parts of the body.
It triggers the liver to release another hormone
When GH reaches the liver, it tells the liver to release a second hormone that helps with growth. This hormone is called insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1).
Together, growth hormone and IGF-1 stimulate growth
Growth hormone and IGF-1 work together to tell bones, muscles, organs, and other tissues to grow by adding more cells.
Safety experience
The safety of Norditropin® has been evaluated in several clinical studies.
