What to expect from treatment
It’s a logical question: “How much will I grow as a result of growth hormone therapy?” We can’t provide answers that are specific to your child, so be sure to speak to your doctor.
But we can provide you with information about what you may expect with Norditropin®.
Actor portrayal
It’s important to allow time for Norditropin® to have an effect. It won’t happen overnight or even in a matter of weeks. Measuring too often—say, every few weeks rather than every few months—may set your expectations too high and leave you discouraged.
Talk to your doctor about when and how often to measure your child.
One factor in a patient’s growth is their “target height.” This is how tall they might grow, based on the height of their parents. Your doctor can calculate your child’s target height for you.
Another factor may be how old the patient is when they start treatment. In some patients, research has shown that the earlier a patient starts, the better their response to treatment. This makes early diagnosis important as well.
This varies from patient to patient. Your doctor will determine the right length of treatment for your child. It’s important to continue taking growth hormone until your doctor says it is time to stop.
